This year, we will once again be holding our “Basic Course on Pharmacokinetics” for professionals engaged in pharmacokinetic testing and safety testing related to pharmacokinetics at pharmaceutical companies, as well as food companies, food additive-related companies, pesticide companies, and cosmetics companies.
Participation is free of charge for both members and non-members, so we encourage you to attend and invite your colleagues in related fields to join us.

<Fundamentals of ADME>
To understand the pharmacokinetics of an administered drug (compound), it is necessary to grasp the mechanisms of each process—absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion—and to conduct quantitative analyses.This lecture will provide an overview of the basic principles of ADME and briefly explain the various parameters used to quantify these ADME characteristics, as well as how to interpret and apply them, using case examples. The goal is to present a roadmap of topics that ADME beginners should study in the future.
<Basics of Fluorescence Imaging>
In fluorescence imaging, the labeling method and observation method are determined by the target of observation and the desired resolution. First, we will provide an overview of the main fluorescence imaging techniques. From these, we will focus on fluorescence microscopy, confocal laser microscopy, and in vivo fluorescence imaging—which are commonly used in kinetic studies—and introduce the characteristics of the equipment, experimental design, and points to note during observation and analysis, as well as examples of common pitfalls that can lead to failure.

<Fundamentals of Physiological Pharmacokinetic (PBPK) Model Analysis>
PBPK model analysis is essential for quantitatively capturing real-time changes in blood and organ concentrations of drugs (compounds). By applying parameters related to the pharmacokinetic characteristics of both the host and the compound to a systemic model, once an appropriate base model is established, it becomes possible to simulate various scenarios, such as drug interactions and pathological conditions.While this may seem daunting to beginners at first glance, it is nothing to fear once you grasp the basic principles of modeling. This lecture aims to introduce how PBPK models are used and to help you understand the key points of model construction.
<Basics of Radionuclide Imaging (e.g., PET)>
PET is an imaging modality that can be consistently applied from rodents to humans. Leveraging its high quantitative accuracy and temporal resolution, it is widely utilized in pharmacokinetic research and drug discovery. In this lecture, we will explain the fundamentals of PET—including nuclear physics, radiopharmaceutical (tracer) synthesis, and image reconstruction and analysis—as well as its application to pharmacokinetic evaluation of novel modality drugs, using concrete examples.We will outline the key points users need to understand to ensure accurate data interpretation and to enable appropriate evaluation and discussion in collaborative research and outsourced projects. Additionally, we will introduce the potential for utilizing tumor accumulation of DDS formulations as pharmacodynamic indicators (biomarkers) to support personalized patient treatment, as well as the latest trends, including total-body PET.
