Introduction
The summer of intense heat has finally come to an end—how have you all been? In September, typhoons and the autumn rain front brought prolonged rainfall to various regions, and record-breaking downpours caused by linear precipitation zones occurred frequently. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to all those who suffered damage, such as flooded homes and waterlogged roads.Furthermore, even now that we’ve entered October, typhoons continue to form, and we’re experiencing days with significant fluctuations in temperature and atmospheric pressure. Please take good care of your health during this time.
I took advantage of the recent Silver Week holiday to take a slightly longer break with my family, which gave me the opportunity to visit several different places. During that trip, I was able to reunite with three friends I hadn’t seen in a long time. The time we spent catching up on all the things we’d missed and reminiscing about old times flew by in the blink of an eye.During this trip, I made many new discoveries in places I had never visited before, but what left the deepest impression on me was the warm thoughtfulness of my friends. One friend took me to a confectionery shop after dinner that only locals would know about, while another squeezed time out of their busy schedule to accompany me on a sightseeing tour—each of them showed me heartfelt hospitality. It may sound like a cliché, but this trip made me realize once again the importance and gratitude I feel for human connections, and I strongly felt that the next time they visit, I want to show them the same kind of hospitality.
Speaking of “connections between people,” the Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Pharmacokinetics—a wonderful opportunity for new encounters and discoveries through science, as well as for rekindling old friendships—is finally just around the corner next month. In this month’s issue, as a special feature just before the annual meeting, we’ve compiled video messages from the speakers of each symposium, highlighting the key points of their sessions. We’ve also included an article titled “New Power Tackling Pharmacokinetics,” so please be sure to enjoy both. (Y.N.)
