Meeting theme:
Innovations in Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics Research in Support of Medical Sciences

The 23rd Annual Meeting of The Japanese Society for the Study of Xenobiotics will be held in Kumamoto City from 30th October – 1st November 2008. In conjunction with the meeting, a public lecture will be held in the evening of 29th October 2008.

At this point of time in the post-genomics era, advancement of cutting edge technologies in structural as well as functional analysis of disease-related biomolecules should progress parallel with innovations in medical treatment strategies and development of drugs with improved safety profiles. In order to obtain breakthroughs in new generation drug discovery and treatment, it is important to aim for amalgamation of theories and revolutionary technologies that centered on the field of pharmaceutical and life sciences. A systematic integration of different cutting edge technologies and theories is expected to speed up the innovative drug pharmacokinetic research that serves as the foundation for developing individualized pharmacotherapy, molecular targeted drug discovery, and new generation proteome/genome drug discovery.

With that background, the society, as well as members, is looking forward to further pursue the theme of the meeting is “Innovations in Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics Research in Support of Medical Sciences”. In this annual meeting, in addition to the Asia-Pacific ISSX-JSSX Joint Symposium and Young Researcher Symposium, an international symposium named `Development of Albumins Analogues with New Functions and Clinical Applications` has also been organized.

Lectures by world renowned scientists, luncheon seminars, forums, symposia and poster sessions will be organized to elaborate the theme of the meeting. Furthermore, an English presentation session has been included to conform to internationalization movement. We would like to appeal to all members to apply for the best poster prize.

Needless to say, this annual meeting offers an excellent opportunity for society members and drug pharmacokinetics research scientists to meet and exchange information. Kumamoto is a castle town that is blessed with beautiful nature and delicious water. The venue of the 23rd Annual Meeting is at the Kumamoto City Auditorium nearby Kumamoto Castle that has 401 years of history.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Kumamoto.
