On April 16, 2008, prior to the 22nd Workshop, we will hold our 2nd Short Course. The title will be eDetecting Reactive Metabolite and extrapolation to human - New Bottleneck of ADME and TOX-e. We have planned the contents to attract interests, not only of researchers in the Pharmacokinetics field, but of those in Drug Safety Assessment.

At the ISSX meeting in November, 2007, we learned that the FDA draft guidance of safety trials of metabolites will be fixed very soon. This has shown me that there will be new movements for the research of Pharmacokinetics and Drug Safety. It was pointed our that the guide of timelines of Drug Safety research, will have a large impact on the process of drug development, and it is important to understand much more of concerns, regarding the safety of metabolites.

This Short Course will be held before the Workshop to introduce the basic knowledge, understand the background, and learn the practical technologies through some case studies. Learning these well beforehand, should make it easier to absorb the Update information at the Workshop. We will have a round table discussion after the 4 Keynote Lectures, to reaffirm what needs to be discussed at the Workshop. Please let us exchange opinions and ideas extensively.

The Short Course at JSSX, is still in its second year, and there are no set rules, but we would like to provide an opportunity to learn for newcomers, and a place to talk about basic technologies. Please invite researchers from the field of Pharmacokinetics, as well as from the field of Drug Safety. We welcome all eager participants.
